There is a Gene Wolfe short called The Fifth Head of Cerberus that touches on the idea that humans had colonised this one extrasolar planet, but the natives of the planet killed the humans and took their place so perfectly that these days the natives' descendants think they're human. I wish he'd gone into that idea a bit more but no.

We have a half-dozen FTL cheats that make less sense than FTL, a species that has back-up DNA so's it doesn't shapeshift once and get stuck, and that it is Canon that wheresoever there is life there are crocodiles because we say so. So if Gilou says 'the science was bad', it must have been stretched worse than usual or involved elves or something.

Since it's the cisphere and not the internet or web, online journaling in the AU Future should probably be called 'clogging', but I don't think anyone would go for that.
