I like Gilou's annoyed expressions--the way her face scrunches up on one side of her mouth. I also applaud Tal's sense of self-control. 
Somehow I don't like the way Alu said "So that's a Veran." Kind of dismissive--like all she saw of the new governor was what class of people he was in rather than him as a person and accepted his reaction as typical of all Verans. I wonder if that made him easier to kiss? Or maybe that was a threat in some way since she obviously wants him gone out of office. She reminds me of a definition I just learned, how a "fool" is apparently someone who knows the difference between right and wrong but chooses to do wrong anyway, not caring for the consequences.
Hmm...but maybe it's not just Tal. She seems to see Gilou as 'her father's daughter' rather than Gilou as an individual too. It would fit well with her vocation, 'bioengineering'--since you're trying to make certain traits dominant. I can see her thinking of someone as a sum of genetic possibilities. I really like how you put details like that into perspective.
