I am terribly sad that there is no real chance that Javin and Perius will ever get to meet in person, because the yelling would be epic.

Perius' French does not get translations.  I think it's in his contract.

Start from the beginning of this arc.
Start from the beginning.

Reminds me of some of the epic arguments I've had with my mother in law. Go Javin!

Given the way Perius and Veras in general are, this seems less like maintaining the history and more keeping it from ever changing. I take it your average Veran would have had a dim view of culture undergoing a marked change even without the Unforgivable Years and/or the Yogzarthu intervening? It's to the point that I'm actually wondering which Veras believes in--does culture/ritual exist for the sake of the people, or the people for the sake of the culture/ritual?

Bah, last clause of the first sentence should be "and more keeping things from ever becoming dissimilar to it".

HECK YES HISTORY I WANT TO KNOW ALL THE THINGS

Tantalizing bits of the things are okay too, though, because storytelling.  I'm just the weirdo who'd sit and read all about alternate future history.

But of course! This is a classic example of the Mixed Rhetorial Arts match-up between Traditional Oligarch and Blogging Firebrand - the betting odds are obvious.

If you bet on anyone but Javin, though I don't know why anyone would... lol

There's always one or two people betting on the long shot play, but yes: the bookie would give incredibly favorable odds to Javin in this one.
