Insecticomic 462 by WaywardInsecticon Insecticomic 462 by WaywardInsecticon
Because I can list three webcomics [ETA: No, wait, four] and one newspaper comic that've already weighed in on the "What the heck, For Better Or For Worse, weren't you once good?" Me, I'd always found the strip kind of dull and haven't actually been reading the dailies for the last five years. However, I do read comic blogs, which keep me up to date on the trainwreck. Anyway, FBoFW is a Beloved Canadian Cultural Something that seems to have gone completely insane in the last few years, and if they're going to be tacky enough to have a lavender and teal wedding on the anniversary of the recently-divorced groom's first marriage, well, even toy robots can do a better wedding episode with more taste and less creepy. :p

Yeah, yeah, I hear your screams. I'm going somewhere with this. All I'm telling you is that the wedding dress is fantastic. ;)

Plenty of room on the bandwagon at the Insecticomics main page.

Thank you for doing this! I thought I was the only one who thought this was just a really bad joke.

What lost my interest was the whole Reservation love interest when Liz went back and her former beau was with someone else. C'mon hit him! I thought. He deserves it. So it slowly lost my interest and made me mad about how things played out. But I didn't realize that Liz's wedding was on the anniversity of Anthony's ex's whatever. A bit weird.

But again thank you for doing this and making fun of it big time! I can't wait to see this wedding.

I used to read it occasinally when they had the bunny and other pets in the strip (had a pet bunny, so she could relate). I must admit that that does sound horrible, and tacky, and creepy all at once. I had not clue that was happening!

A comic strip spiting another comic strip? Now I HAVE seen everything LOL!

Apparently I'm in the minority; after reading this strip, I thought Kickback was going to be the bride! XD He's the one with the history of wearing dresses after all.

I anticipate Minicon bridesmaids and Lady Jaye outraging all over the place in short order :) I'm just wondering who's going to officiate - the closest things to spiritual leaders the Insecticomics have are the Fallen and Pepsi Prime.

Well, Laze could captain-up with her pirate gear. Then she'd be able to officiate it herself!

But only if they were on a ship. So they'd have to stand on Tidal Wave.

I'm voting for the Fallen, just because I'm curious what a Devourist wedding would look like.

o.O A robot wedding. And I've read FBOFW now and then. Emphasis should be put on "worse."

Oh yeah, I know that strip. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but because it takes only three seconds of my time I still read it regardless. But this really does show the devotion of the Insecticons if they're willing to get MARRIED to make a point ;)

I like the FBoW strip, but it has gotten rather bland over the years. Things were better when April was little.

So... if Laze is the bride, who's the groom? Is AniProwl gunna get involved? :P

Huh? That strip lasted this long?

Naturally, being Canadian, I read it ages ago. :P

How old is everyone in it by now?

I'm not sure exactly. The son is a bit older than me and the oldest daughter is a bit younger, so the son is probably in his early thirties, the oldest daughter in her mid-twenties, and I think the youngest daughter just graduated high school. The parents are probably in their mid-fifties.

I like "For Better Or For Worse" myself, but I do see how that situation is kinda creepy...

Can't wait to see how this plays out!

Good one! :D

Haha, lately to set up for the wedding, Therese (Anthony's ex) has been shown in a very negative light (meeting her daughter Francoise, and Elizabeth, in the mall and wanting to run FAR AWAYYYYY--didn't really want anything to do with her own kid).

FBOFW was alright, but there were things that got me, like how less funny and how more into the realm of the serious it got. The thing is, Lynn Johnston says she "channels" her characters, and they basically "tell" her what to do with them in a strip.

I stopped caring about the characters when Elizabeth's love interest from the Reservation dumped her for one of his own people, because she was closer and had more in common with him. Course, she was being a little too whinny about being so far away from people she knew and the places she loved, despite claiming how much she loved the Reservation and teaching all the kids. Seemed to me the author wrote herself into a corner and needed an out for the story arch.

An Insecticon wedding. Hmmm....Depending on who the groom is, I'll sit on the bride's side.

I remember the whole Reservation love interest thing too. It made me hate Elizabeth cause she allowed this guy to get away with it without slapping his face and not tell him off, and stayed with folks who defended him. Also the whole thing about Liz going home too. Its like we work to get away from family. I don't know. . . I like the idea of being a more independent than what Liz is.

I also don't like how Therese was done. No one took her side on things. Anthony nor her parents listened to what she wanted to do. She didn't want kids. I am child-free by choice.
But I don't agree with parents just leaving thier kids either.

I believe the whole "defending" him thing was the native believe of you can't leave your true home without hurting yourself or something like that, and that Elizabeth was being unfair for asking him to leave just for her. But that "can't leave your truehome" logic was the same arguement they used for why Elizabeth came to be a teacher at the Reservation and why she kept coming back every school year. Alot of smoke and mirrors, I think the author wrote herself into a corner.

I didn't really like the Therese story arch either, I mean the whole thing was Anthony getting married to a mature woman because he wanted to prove he was mature. The heck?

Heh, yeah the reservation love interest meltdown was made of WTF. And then there's Warren who can't seem to take a hint, and perhaps the most disturbing of all, that guy Elizabeth worked with that pretty much harrassed her.

What was this, a comic strip, or a soap opera? :XD:
