'Other Vengeance 2.0' chapter four is up

Tue Jun 9, 2009, 6:37 PM
And when we have our naked frailties hid,
That suffer in exposure, let us meet,
And question this most bloody piece of work,
To know it further. Fears and scruples shake us.
In the great hand of God I stand; and thence
Against the undivulged pretence I fight
Of treasonous malice.

- Macbeth, Act II, scene iii

For those of you in the cheap seats, Other Vengeance 2.0 is a Beast Wars-based Transformers-as-Humans story. Yeah, yeah, one of those. ;) As of this chapter, they've been squishy for a week and have more or less got the hang of the basics.

I quite like how this chapter turned out, which means the rest of you probably won't. ;) You'll note that it diverges quite sharply from the cartoon, plot arc-wise. I tried sticking more or less to Season Two in the original version of Other Vengeance and it eventually bogged down under its own weight and fizzled out. Thus I'm exploring the universe from another direction. Hopefully it will entertain.

Synopsis: Everyone's been trapped inside by the rain for three days, the fuzors are still sick, and now Dinobot finds himself in charge of a murder investigation. Dinobot mangles Macbeth, Waspinator sings, and Optimus has one of his worst days ever.

It only ended up being fifty-one pages in the end, heh. ( And if you think adding nine pages worth of edits to what started at forty-two pages is bad, you'll fall over dead if I tell you how 'Morning' came about. ) It's chopped into four parts. It should keep you from asking when the next chapter is coming out for a couple hours. ;) Maybe if I call them 'novellas' instead of 'chapters', a five or six month wait between updates won't seem so bad. I've certainly got the word count for it.

Trivia: Other Vengeance 2.0 is now longer than the original version ( 521kB vs 468kB. )

( Yeah, it'll all make sense and tie together someday. We're still in the build-up section of the story at large. )

Yay OV! *has already devoured it* ^_^

I totally suffered to post this. I had to play with Mak until he passed out so's I could do the final edits and coding without worrying about my feet getting nibbled.

My life is pain!
:iconevilkillerpoptarts:
My feet get nibbled and my cat is full grown. Of course, she no longer has baby needle-teeth, and instead adult slightly-larger-needle-teeth...

Michelle told me earlier that her boyfriend's friend needs to re-home two cats- an older adult and a kitten. She's seriously contemplating taking in the older adult. XD

*ran to read story as soon as she saw this post* *attempts to avoid being too spoilertastic* Right, yes, everyone needs hugs again. Possibly still. Poor everybody.

I hear gator is tasty, though. I wonder if croc is, too.

I read through all of it this morning. Very well written, although the sudden appearance of bold text threw me off for a moment. Any chance you'll be doing a drawing of Crossbolt soon?

Stand back, I have no idea what I'm doing.
Glip, nabba-leth, Hath-org.
:iconwaywardinsecticon:
Was it too jarring? I wanted some obvious way to indicate character-reading-text and 'wrote Character' was too likely to get confused with heard dialogue and italics would get confused with thoughts.

Crossbolt more or less looks like a Beast Era version of Energon Strongarm.
:iconsxueki:
I, personally, found the bold text very striking in an odd way - it made the scene almost surreal. (No, not too jarring for me at least ^_^)

With me, stupidity is a certainty.
:iconalangarou:
It wasn't bad, it was just surprising for a few seconds. And thanks for the info about Crossbolt.

The bold text worked well for me. ...as did the story in general. >>v
