Brief hiatus

1 min read

Hey. Need to take a bit of time off for stuff. I'm still online, just got some things going on so I can't focus on the comic. Should be back at it in a week or two.

Just in case you're stuck at home with a lot of empty time:

The Insecticomics archive has over 900 strips.

The All Hail Flamewar archive has just under 70 pages.

I mean Other Vengeance still isn't anywhere near done but it's pretty long.

Harbourmaster is still running with over 950 pages.

Goodbye, 'Nim

2 min read
I don't tend to post Personal Stuff but some of you knew him, either through the Insecticomics, or just from pictures I've posted, or because of course I will tell you stories about my cats if you do not stop me I am a cat owner:

Nim by WaywardInsecticon

This morning we had to say goodbye to the 'Nim, a cat who would have spent his entire sixteen-and-a-half years on my lap except I had to stand up sometimes.  He'd had various health issues for years, but powered through them with feline aplomb until abruptly deciding he'd had enough, thank you.

Knave and I got him as a kitten, and he spent the first day with us hiding in a closet because the apartment was so big and scary.  It did not take him long to decide that his place was 'glued to Wayward at all times'.

His primary moods were Sulk ( when he was being good ) and Smug ( when he was being bad. )  If he was mad at me, such as if I'd shut him out of my office because I was trying to get something done and he was in the way, he would go find Mak and pick a fight with him.

He was more a mobile pillow than a cat.  'Nim was so bad at basic cat skills that one time a mouse hid underneath him to escape from Mak.

He remained stubborn and jealous to the last, spending his final days sleeping beside me and only opening his eyes to give stink-eye to Knave whenever Knave dared talk to me.

So I'm taking some time off to be sad and deal with things.  I'm still poking around the internet, just not doing work right now.

( Picture is from a few months ago. )

For those of you who weren't here since like 2007 or whenever I started this mess, Other Vengeance 2.0 is a Beast Wars-based Transformers-get-turned-human story, ensemble cast, infrequently updated.  It's mostly there to force a faction truce, and ironically gives me opportunities to underline that we're dealing with aliens.

This bit was originally going to be mentioned in Chapter Six as 'and this is why Terrorsaur and Waspinator aren't hanging out together today,' but it took up so much flashback real estate that I was just all, 'or maybe I could show this instead of infodumping it.'  Anyway, it became this.

The day after Someone I Forgot: Terrorsaur hangs around being annoyed about his sprained ankle.  Waspinator and Optimus try to help out.

( Yes, I still refuse to use the Covenant of Cybertron Thirteen Primes or whatever the kids call them these days.  We are loyal to our fanon. )

Progress notes: Chapter Six is puttering along.  First half is done, or at least full.  Second half is getting there.

Wound up, can't sleep, can't do anything right ...

For those of you who just came in, Other Vengeance 2.0 is a Beast Wars-based Transformers-as-Humans story, ensemble cast, infrequently updated.  It's got a faction truce, assorted Vokery, the occasional corpse, acknowledgement of the human condition being rather sticky and messy, and random acts of Shakespeare.  There is an FAQ.

For those of you who've been playing along, it's eleven days after the change - and the last seven days have been solid rain.  It's been like three years for you readers, but four days for the Cybertronians since This Most Bloody Piece Of Work and This, And What Needful Else.

Chapter five synopsis: It finally stops raining.  Inferno makes two big ( unrelated ) discoveries, Megatron and Blackarachnia go digging around a Vok site, and Airazor and Cheetor try to find everyone's luggage.  Also a completely unfair, utterly self-indulgent scene wherein Dinobot and Megatron argue in Richard III quotes.

Yes, there was a name shamelessly stolen from a New Adventures of He-Man character.  In my defence, it was perfect.

Or link to the Other Vengeance 2.0 archive, if you want to start from the beginning.

Process notes: Working on Chapter Six now.  Had to rearrange the timeline and shuffle some chapters around for general logic and story flow.  Now things make more sense in terms of stuff people ought be reacting to in what order.
