Because even Nephos stops being accommodating when he's insulted directly. ( No, it doesn't matter if Tal doesn't intend to hurt Nephos, he still did. )
( 'The Demets' refers to his military service - the supersoldiers were made on Thari but got scattered throughout everyone's fleets ( minus the Verans because, ew, genetic engineering. ) Nephos was with the Tharins for a while, then got a random transfer to Demeter. He has not mentioned the fleet he worked for by name in the comic, but he was shown in his uniform, which is the same type Captain Thunderfall is wearing. )

Oh Tal, the fact that you're at least TRYING to understand is good. But yeah.. poor Nephos having to be the first guy to deal with Tal's issues.
